Rainfall Streams in the Adelaide and Ranges Locations. Page 2.

Previous Page

As theorised on the previous page the moisture streams can be plotted based on the varying factors influencing development. The maps below give an approximate guide as to the locations of the most common streams. A few locations in the ranges are lucky enough to be in most of the stream directions and with the added orographic effect catch pretty much any rain that happens to be around. This is strongly reflected in their high annual totals - for example Stirling and the Mt Lofty district. Often times these streams are tight which is why you will see very sharp cutoffs in rainfall over a very short distance. This happens with regularity and is reflected in the huge variation of annual totals and vegetation types in just a small area.
