A forecast that changed
every 4 hours made life for the BOM
difficult. The possibility of a light show from big storms diminished
as the system approached, but local heavy falls were still a good possibility.
That part of the forecast did not disappoint. Friday the 19th saw Meadows
receive 27mm with a downpour in the afternoon that spiked clean off
the graph on my WS as can be seen from the image below. It is possible
that it was the heaviest rain I have ever recorded!

Another unusual event was
the rise in barometric pressure coinciding with the rain downpours.
The usual course of events sees a drop in the pressure with such rain
events as a trough or front passes. This I have not seen before??? The
image below highlights in the green circles the rises.
The rain band on Friday
was huge and very widespread. One of the most extensive I have seen
for a very long time.

VERY heavy
rain periodically hammered those in its path, heaviest falls on the
southern ranges.

Saturday gave us a break
with warm temps and high humidity. All changed again on Sunday when
I awoke to strong wind and VERY unstable skies. Light rain was spitting
and a look at the radar confirmed my thoughts that decent rain was about.
Adelaide had local flooding and 16mm in a very short time. However the
moisture stream was very narrow and the flooding was restricted to a
small area. Mt Barker recorded 38mm to 9:00am monday. The winds stayed
high and caused quite a bit of damage at home with a tree down and debris
everywhere. All up from the 2 events we received 35mm with some spots
getting well over 50mm!

the events captured on my travels and from home. Click on the thumbs
