fog fog, more fog and a dusting of green

Summer is truly the season of fogs. For us the south easterlies dominate during the hotter months and with these winds fogs at night are a regular visitor. Add a wet cloudband from the north above the SE surface winds, feed that moisture through the levels and, yep, you guessed it, more fog! Can last for days and is usually thick and ethereal with a cool damp hand cradling the ridges banishing the heat. Relief. And so it was that as the lands to our north drowned in superb heavy rain we spent the time in drizzle and fog. But it was wet, it was cool. The hills went green in response. Green in mid January never lasts, summer returns to cook it off always. But its welcome, a sight to ease the yellows, make the landscape feel alive again.

Summer. Best thing about summer is its passing…..

But it will be back, this was just some respite, welcome respite from the heat, bushfires and terrible dry that blights southern Australia during that, the worse time of year – summer.
