Sunset of the year

Late evening Sunday Feb 15th I was sitting watching the “box”, well not watching exactly, vegetating is perhaps a better term. TV does that to a brain. The sky was darkening in the stock standard sort of summer evening. A little patch of orange began to appear on the trees in the gully opposite. Starkly vivid against the blue grey of everything else it roused my brain from vegetation.

Better go check it out!

Off outside and up to the viewpoint and what greeted me was far better than anything TV could offer. The sky was extraordinary. Crisp lines of fine altocumulus drew lies across the sky, glowing reds, oranges and yellows. The sky was a slowly spreading fire, almost 360 degrees of magnificence.
Now that by itself was not so unsusual. Beautiful sure, unusual – no. What made it incredible was a broad brushstroke of blue-purple sky cutting through the middle of all this red. It was bogglingly beautiful, with a smooth tonality that had to be seen to be believed. It glowed. literally.

Glad I dumped the TV shows for this, the best show…
