The heatwave breaks…..

After yet another record breaking heatwave (heat records tumble so easily these days) of 5 days above 42 for Adelaide City and 3 days in a row of 39 for me in the SE Mt Lofty ranges (OMG!! 😯 ), relief arrived in the form of a most beautiful storm system with a lovely 12.5mm of rain. The temperature drop was quite simply the most rapid and significant I have ever experienced. One gust hot, next gust cold. It was that quick, 10 second turnaround. Extraordinary!

It was like heaven had arrived to drive away the heat demons, which for me, a winter cool lover it had.

The lightning was quite spectacular arriving with the storm clusters too. Difficult to photograph for 2 reasons. Rain. Made it impossible to get close up shots without blowing out and/or drowning the camera and it was a little unpredictable as to bolt drop location. Not impossible, but not consistent. Nonetheless I got MANY shots from my Meadows hilltop. Not compositionally good, pretty run of the mill bolt snaps, but hell lightning is lightning and who doesn’t enjoy a good light show eh? Not to mention it was cool and fair pelting down with rain 😀

Hope you enjoy the pics…….
